Your son is lucky to have a mom who respects his needs and limits (which all kids have of course for different things at different times). I remember my daughter used to only sit on the bench on the carousel ride and I too was amazed she didn't want to ride the unicorn or dolphin. That lasted for maybe 3 years until just a few months ago she went straight for the zebra. I think you're right that it's different with boys and I had to catch myself getting nervous when my son insisted on putting a basketball on his toy batting stand instead of the baseball. Which is kinda cute actually but there I was worrying about his sport skills and luckily realized I was being ridiculous. Glad to have found your blog through literary mama :)
